Hanging weight is how much the carcass weighs after slaughter (meat/fat/bones). Take-home weight is roughly 60-65% of the hanging weight.

What is the difference between grass-fed and finished, and grass-fed grain finished?

Accepted Answer

Grass fed and finished means the animal ate only grass or forage its entire life. It is much higher in Omega-3 and does not have any antibiotics or growth hormones.Grass fed grain finished means the animal had grain or other products in the final 6 months of its life, sometimes more, to make the animal grow bigger, faster. This method is lower in omega-3, and has growth hormones and antibiotics tied to it.
